Zagadkowy full Bogner

#1

"The early 90s downhill frame from the Italian manufacturer Verlicchi was the 1st full suspension bike to win the Downhill world title. It was rider Dave Cullinan who piloted his Iron Horse to the finish in Bromont in 1992. Verlicchi supplied downhill frames to several brands: Iron Horse, Kona, Diamond Back, Sintesi and more. They also built the hardtails for the Swiss company S-bike.

Verlicchi had a background as manufacturer of aluminum motorcycle frames. They developed the frame in cooperation with Marzocchi - a manufacturer of suspension systems."

"Rudy Project is an Italian manufacturer of sunglasses. Back in the nineties they wanted to add a frame to their brand and that's how Verlicchi came in the picture. Marzocchi (another Italian brand, known for their motorcycle suspension) devellopped together with Verlicchi a full suspension frameset (as shown above), that's why you didn't find Verlicchi full suspension framesets with e.g. Manitou or Rock Shox forks (not even on the all american Kona and Iron Horse bikes): they were only available as frameset with front and rear Marzocchi suspension forks. If you have a look at the top tube there should be a stamp "NV", possibly together with one saying "LARM". In the rear dropouts there's normally a stamp "Verlicchi"."
